What is Djangoary?
The Djangoary© music soiree was created by Thomas Wakefield of Gypsy Roots.
Djangoary is a musical celebration of the birthday and music of the Gypsy guitar guru, Django Reinhardt!
Some of the region's best Django-inspired Gypsy Jazzers will gather and perform sets of their music followed by an all-encompassing Djam session.
This is a great opportunity to participate and enjoy while helping build an awareness of this fantastic, sweeping style of music. This year's performers include music from two incredible bands.
Gypsy Roots out of Richmond features Thomas Wakefield & John Conley - guitars; Rusty Farmer - bass; Larry Lyles - violin
Le Hotclub de Big Lick of Roanoke, Virginia features Jeffrey Hofmann (bass), Robert Casey (guitar), Dan Adams (violin) and Rick Olivarez (guitar).
We hope you'll come out and enjoy the sounds, jam, socialize and help us grow this gypsy jazz scene in the region!
