CCAP Jazz Honor Band
Trane Virginia District joins Virginia Western Community College and the Virginia Western Educational Foundation to announce a Community College Access Program (CCAP) Jazz Honor Band benefit concert. All proceeds of the CCAP Jazz Honor Band presented by Trane go directly to make college possible for local high school graduates.
Guest Conductor for the event, Brandon Lee, is a jazz trumpeter who joined the faculty at The Julliard School as the youngest member to date in 2008. Having first attended The Julliard School in 2001 as a young student in the inaugural class of the Jazz Studies program, he also received his Bachelors of Music in 2005 and Masters of Music in 2007 from the school. He now is Assistant Professor for the Miles Davis Jazz Studies Program at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He will be leading the Jazz Institute at the Jefferson Center in Roanoke in the summer of 2014.
“This is a truly unique event that highlights the amazing partnerships CCAP has created between Virginia Western, local school districts and area corporations like Trane,” said Dr. Robert H. Sandel, President of Virginia Western. “We hope the community will come out to support this worthwhile cause and enjoy some incredible local music.”
