- ALUMNI ALL-CLASS REUNION REPORT -

JHS Alumni had 164 in attendance with alumni coming from across the state, as well as North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, California, Tennessee and Ohio.

15 JHS Alumni participated in the golf outing at Hunting Hills Country Club on Saturday morning.

The response to JHS Alumni hats, shirts and decals for sale was wonderful! Some items were mailed to alumni across the state and as far away as Arizona.

With the great attendance at the Cornell Gunter Coasters concert on Friday and the reunion on Saturday, in addition to the raffle, JHS Alumni were able to make a $2,500 donation to Jefferson Center. Go Magicians!

-ALUMNI NEWS-

Last year, JHS Alumni stepped up as leaders in a special way.  The storm-damaged roof that opened Shaftman Performance Hall’s stage and threatened to damage other parts of the building was completely replaced.  That $225,000 project was made possible by a challenge grant from the City of Roanoke and by those who met the challenge, including alumni.  Indeed, two-thirds of the gifts to the special roof replacement campaign came from JHS Alumni.  What a huge demonstration of your love for this great place!

Besides the roof campaign, Jefferson Center also received gifts designated for the repair of the historic Campbell Avenue steps that would make the front lawn under ancient oak trees a public park again.   Thank you to all the JHS Alumni who continue to support Jefferson Center and special thanks to the Class of 1960 for raising the most support and Class of 1969 for encouraging the most new donors to Jefferson Center during fiscal year 11/12.

-ALUMNI MEMORABILIA ROOM-

Jefferson Center, occupies an historic, landmark with a rich heritage as former Jefferson Senior High School. The school was built in 1923. It operated as Roanoke's main secondary school until 1974, graduating more than 19,000 students.

We are privileged to honor the special relationship of alumni to their school by hosting class reunions and annual activities of the Alumni Council. Also, The Memorabilia Room is maintained as a museum and archive of materials about Jefferson Senior High School. It contains old yearbooks, student newspapers and photos, sports trophies and a wall of photos citing Jefferson students who achieved extraordinary community and national leadership positions. The Memorabilia Room is open for visitors who research history about the school and its alumni and for general enjoyment.

To maintain security and care of the valued items, Jefferson Center's staff opens the room only when visitors are expected. To arrange a visit, contact John Levin at 540-343-2624, exts. 212. Information about scheduled alumni activities is posted on this page. To add items, please contact John Levin at jlevin[at]jeffcenter[dot]org

-JEFFERSON HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI COUNCIL PURPOSE-
Jefferson High Alumni Council 2012 Class Agents - Click Here

The purpose of the Jefferson High School Alumni Association is to function as a focal point for information about alumni and alumni activities.

The Jefferson Alumni Council is composed of volunteer graduates who meet monthly at Jefferson Center to plan alumni events.  The meetings are generally held on a week day at 5:30p.m. at the Jefferson Center.

The principal service offered by the volunteers is the planning and coordinating of all activities related to the annual All Class Reunion which is held each year on the third Saturday in August in Jefferson Center’s Fitzpatrick Hall.

A current objective of the Association is to establish primary contacts through class agents in order to support communications about individual class reunions as well as between individual alumni.

Any graduate who would like more information about the Council or its meetings can contact Amy Milberger, Director of Development at Jefferson Center by phone at 540-343-2624, ext. 212, or by email at amilberger[at]jeffcenter[dot]org.
