Lalah Hathaway's Something w/ Snarky Puppy nominated for
Best R&B Performance!

Roanoke, VA - On Saturday, December 7th, The Recording Academy nominated Lalah Hathaway's "Something", filmed and recorded live at Jefferson Center with the talented NYC jazz collaborative Snarky Puppy, for the Best R&B Performance Grammy award.

"To our knowledge this is the first ever Grammy nomination to emerge from a live performance recorded in Roanoke," said Cyrus Pace, Jefferson Center Executive Director. "Lalah's performance was part of a project Jefferson Center produced last March with Snarky Puppy, resulting in their new album Family Dinner Volume 1. The album captured a series of incredible live performances featuring Snarky Puppy and a number of talented guest artists, including Lalah Hathaway."

Family Dinner is on sale now and available around the world. The DVD includes two performances featuring Jefferson Center Music Lab students and partial proceeds from every sale worldwide benefits arts education programming at Jefferson Center.

“The attention the album has already received has been phenomenal and now with Lalah's Grammy nod we expect the resulting positive energy to be huge for Jefferson Center, our Music Lab program, and this community,” said Dylan Locke, Jefferson Center Artistic Director and driving force behind the Family Dinner recording project. “Michael League, Snarky Puppy's bandleader, has worked very closely with our Music Lab students from the beginning and his eagerness to record Snarky Puppy's new album at Jefferson Center was an incredible opportunity for us and now this... it's just a really exciting time for arts education in Roanoke."

The Grammy Awards are announced on Sunday, January 26, 2014, just five days before Snarky Puppy returns to Jefferson Center for their performance on our Jazz Series.

On behalf of Jefferson Center, our supporters, and community partners we say congratulations to Lalah Hathaway and Snarky Puppy for the Grammy nomination and wish them both the best of luck in L.A. this January.

Our collective fingers are crossed that Snarky returns to our stage on January 31st as Grammy Award winners!
