MEMORABLE MOMENTS

Angelique Kidjo

This Memorable Moment in Shaftman Performance Hall is Angelique Kidjo. The GRAMMY winning Kidjo, described as “Africa’s premier diva” (Time Magazine) delivered an unforgettable performance in Shaftman Performance Hall in 2008 when she invited audience members onstage to dance with her and the band.

“Performing old and new jewels of Afro-beat music, Kidjo eventually cajoled a big pack of dancers to get in front of the stage. Then she invited them onstage for a lengthy, multicultural dance session. At least 50 audience members were onstage by the end, shimmying away in what looked like a dance-off.”
