In June, 2022, well-renowned singer-songwriter Margaret Glaspy did a three-part songwriting workshop with some of our active Music Lab students. Margaret proved to be a very insightful and adept teacher for the students and they each were able to finish the workshop with some great new tools for writing songs. Over a decade ago, the legendary bluegrass musician Del McCoury teamed up with New Orleans based Preservation Hall Jazz Band to record an incredible album. Then they hit the road and toured with an incredible ensemble. Prior to the performance, Tad Dickens of The Roanoke Times chatted with Preservation Hall tuba player Ben Jaffe for an interview on how their music worked together. And on Thursday, October 28th of 2010, they delivered an incredible show for a packed house on the Shaftman Performance Hall stage.
